Dark Star Orchestra Biography

Formed in Chicago in 1997, Dark Star Orchestra is known for recreating complete historical Grateful Dead setlists rather than presenting a standard collection of hits. The band researches a particular past show and reveals which performance inspired the set after playing it. With more than 2,300 performances, DSO has built a reputation as a prolific touring act devoted to the Grateful Dead's musical legacy.

The group's concerts typically follow the Grateful Dead tradition of two full sets and an encore, with a set break between them. Past setlists have included songs such as “Dark Star,” “Bird Song,” “Franklin's Tower,” “China Cat Sunflower,” and “Help on the Way.” The open-ended repertoire and psychedelic presentation make each performance distinct, with a lively atmosphere shaped by the band's improvisational approach and a multigenerational Deadhead audience.

The November 28 date is part of the band's 2026 touring activity. The supplied event details do not identify an opening act or confirm a specific setlist for Huntington, so the historical show being recreated will remain a surprise until after the performance. Huntington's Long Island setting makes the Paramount a local destination for fans from across the area seeking a full evening of live music.
